CERT

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) began promoting nationwide use of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) concepts in 1994. CERT training is designed to teach community members how to prepare, and take care of themselves, their family, and neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster.

In 2004, operating under the umbrella of Arizona Citizen Corps Programs, Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical began teaching CERT to residents of Anthem, Black Canyon City, Town of Cave Creek, Desert Hills and New River. You can find more information about CERT at these links:

This class is tailored to Arizona and more specifically to the Daisy Mountain Fire District.

(Anthem, Black Canyon City, Cave Creek, Desert Hills and New River).

Open to anyone 18 years or older (14 years or older if a parent or guardian is attending the class with them.)

CERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve. The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in basic response skills. If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community's professional response, CERT trained individuals are then in a better position to provide immediate local help, until more help arrives.

Check the Public Training and Events Page to confirm class schedules and to register.
